New turnaround flyover to link Northwest and Northeast throughways in Moscow

Mostotrest will participate in the construction of a new turnaround flyover between Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street and Dmitrovskoye Avenue in Moscow. Scheduled for commissioning in 2019, the new facility will link the Northwest and Northeast throughways.

Mostotrest was the sole bidder in the tender held by the relevant agency, the Moscow City Department for Competition Policy, and was awarded the contract by decision of the Tender Committee. The project customer is the Moscow City Government Road and Bridge Construction Management Authority. The project designer is the MosEngProject Institute. In accordance with the terms of the tender, the project completion deadline is June 2019. The contract amount is RUB2.8 billion, including VAT.

In accordance with the contract, the project is divided into two stages. During Stage 1, Mostotrest will build a right-turn ramp from the 3rd Nizhnelikhoborsky Proezd onto the segment of the Northeast Throughway being designed along the Oktyabrskaya Railway Line. Stage 2 envisions construction of the Northeast Throughway per se between Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street and Listvennichnaya Alley - a new six-to-eight lane throughway, as well as throughway exit ramps from Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street and 3rd Nizhnelikhoborsky Proezd, service roads, turnaround flyover access and exit ramps, and a 400 m turnaround flyover complete with retaining walls. In addition, Stage 2 envisions construction of an overhead pedestrian bridge with utility infrastructure on Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street, in the area of Building 77/1. Both stages will involve rearrangement of exiting communication and utility lines, and installation of project-related utility networks.

The project stage-by-stage structure is designed to ensure separate and independent commissioning and operation of each individual stage. When fully completed, the new Moscow infrastructure project will create links between the Northwest and Northeast throughways and, in the future, enable through traffic between Michurinski Prospekt and Entuziastov Avenue.
